 Alexander Kellock Brown, RSA RSW RI (1849-1922) 

Born in Edinburgh, died on Arran. Oil and watercolour painter of mainly landscapes and flowers. He studied at Glasgow School of Art. His works were almost exclusively of Scottish scenes, the only important exception being the Temple of Comoriba, Egypt, exhibited in 1879. In common with many of his contemporaries including Waller Hugh Paton, he loved the landscape of Arran although he was associated with Glasgow for  most of his life. Influence of James Docharty is apparent in his development of wet broad brushstrokes when using watercolour. Exhibited RA, RSW, ARSA, RSA.
