Gerhardt Aloys (1837-1889)
Born in Budapest, Aloys painted in Austria and Germany and exhibited mainly in Vienna and Budapest as well as Paris.
His subjects were mainly landscapes and street scenes but he also painted a number of Battle Scenes
He was one of the most highly regarded Hungarian 19th Century artists, and there are a number of his works in the National Gallery in Budapest.
He returned to and died in Budapest in 1889.
