 Norman Wilkinson, (1878-1971) 

Born in Cambridge, he studied Art at Portsmouth and Southsea School of Art. Wilkinson is famed for his marine paintings and landscapes which take rivers as a focal point. He worked in oil, watercolour and drypoint. In 1898 he started contributing to the Illustrated London News as an illustrator and poster artist. His love of the sea led him to travel extensively principally to Spain, Italy, Malta, Greece, Canada, United States and Brazil.
