Thomas Austen Brown, ARSA, RSW, RI (1857-1924) 

Edinburgh artist. Painter of genre and landscape, illustrato,etcher and woodcut artist..Brown was the son of a drawing-master and a student at the Royal Scottish Academy School. As a result of his work at Cambuskenneth, he  became closely associated with the Glasgow movement, working in both oil and watercolour. , He  shared their early success in London and on the continent. Austin-Brown later lived in the north of France, where he continued to paint in watercolour,  Austin-Brown was a successful artist, who won several first-class medals   in Munich, Dresden, Barcelona and Budapest (1861-1911).The International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers also invited him to exhibit, when JW was still its president.
