 Annie Rose Laing, (1869-1946)

Born in Glasgow, she was a figure and landscape painter, mostly of continental landscapes and interiors, also children, generally in oil and also some in watercolours. She was the wife of James Garden Laing. She exhibited mainly in Scotland, but after a spell in Italy she settled in London. All her academy works in Scotland were converstational pieces and continental subjects.

Her work is described as: 'A feminine and rather charming sentiment as regards children.. united to considerable beauty of colour, lighting, and handling'.
