Edinburgh oil and watercolour painter of landscapes and figurative subjects. His work is on a generally small scale, finely portrayed with good colour and accurate detail. His watercolours were particularly sensitively executed. An artist whose reputation has grown with the passage of time although the small scale on which he preferred to work remains an obstacle to general recognition of his due.
