John Harvey Oswald, (fl. 1851-1899) 

Edinburgh painter in oil of landscape, coastal scenes. Father of Mary Oswald. Enjoyed the wilder aspects of nature. Occasionally included Highland cattle in his scenes but in these he was less succesfull. Worked occasionally in northern France and did a tour through Italy. Exhibited RSA, RA, GI and in London.
